ALDS @ OPACY

The Orioles split the Baltimore portion of the ALDS with the Yankees, needing to win 2 of 3 in New York to advance to the ALCS. The games on Sunday and Monday were simply electric. The fans reveled in the opportunity to welcome their unlikely playoff contenders home, and to vent 15 years of frustration and futility at those damn Yankees.

The rebirth of Orioles baseball this season has been amazing to watch and experience. It’s not just the play on the field, but the feel in the community. Baltimore fans love baseball, and love the Orioles – despite the hard times the team has put them through. The fans have responded, and people are taking notice: the players, organization and the media.

Notably, the TBS broadcast showed that the crowd at Camden Yards reached a deafening 121 decibels on Sunday. When asked about the fans in his post-game presser, Buck Showalter said “there’s not a city in America that loves their baseball more than this city.”

Baltimore (and beyond) fans should be proud of their team, and themselves for proving that Baltimore is once again a baseball town.

Here’s the alpha and omega from ALDS Game 1 and 2: Sunday’s national anthem and Monday’s final out. Terrible camerawork provided by Jake.
