Buster Olney Forgets that ESPN Hates the Orioles

It looks like ESPN is following our lead on The Brian Roberts Watch this spring.

Listeners will remember my hate/hate relationship with the four-letter network, and their baseball coverage. In many ways, ESPN has led the charge in trying to convince us that 2012 was a fluke, and that the Orioles are destined to fall flat on their faces this year.

Exhibit A
It seems that Buster Olney didn’t get the memo. The former Baltimore Sun columnist is very bullish on the Orioles.  When his colleagues gush about the Blue Jays and Yankees, he is quick to point out that the Orioles are for real, and that all an “expert” need do is spend some time in Sarasota in order to become a believer.
You can find an example in the Baseball Today podcast from March 6th. Olney discusses the AL East early in the episode, and interviews Brian Roberts toward the end.
