Leading Off
It doesn’t suck to be an Orioles fan this week! Well, Sunday didn’t help. The Orioles gave the game away, and then the other team in town followed suit. So… go teams?
After a week in which the Orioles showed surprising signs of life, Jake is forced to defend some of his “interesting” choices in The Drink of the Week,
This Week on the Twitters
The good news is that everyone will be too busy complaining about the Ravens that they will forget about complaining about the Os.

Too Little, Too Late
The Orioles have gone 9-12 in their most recent stretch. Wouldn’t it have been nice to see this kind of baseball in August, when they were busy throwing the season away? The guys avoid talking through what might have been, and instead focus on what can be gleaned from a “lost season.”

MLB’s Advanced Media arm is at it again. You may remember (and only because we keep bringing it up) that MLBAM has been busy stamping out free promotion of its product for quite some time. For instance, MLBAM removed this podcast (and others like it) from iTunes because it was afraid that you, the listener, would confuse this:
for this:
Now they’re telling you that you can’t use animated GIFs of MLB footage. At some level, we understand this issue: MLBAM cannot control the message or the context in which their properties and players are used by the masses. On the other hand, this is a situation in which baseball fans – particularly those elusive young, tech savvy baseball fans – are inserting baseball into pop culture. This is the sort of thing that should be encouraged. MLBAM should make it easier for fans like you and me to make their players, coaches, and owners into memes. Even when it is not the most flattering, it is priceless exposure.
Fantasy Boss
Fantasy Boss is our head-to-head fantasy segment where we pick one stat, and select a player. Feel free to play along, and tweet us your #FantasyBoss pick @birdseyeviewbal.
Jake won again, which brings the contest to 12-9-1. Scott concedes defeat, but as always, has a trick up his sleeve. Acknowledging that he is mathematically eliminated, Scott brings a double-or-nothing offer: Scott offers his Season 2 Fantasy Boss title as ante for this final Fantasy Boss contest, which will run for the remainder of the season.
What fancy statistic did Scott offer? Home Run. Simply, Jake gets to pick one player, and Scott has to pick two players who will each hit more home runs than Jake’s pick.
It’s a vicious offer – and one Jake could not refuse.
Scott’s pick: Chris Davis
Jake’s pick: Manny Machado & Jonathan Schoop
The gauntlet has been thrown. Who will own it?
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.
Tweet us your selections @birdseyeviewbal with #OsGood, #OsBad, and #OsUgly.
Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
