Leading Off
As it turns out, they are who we thought they were. But hey – with all these roster moves, we have the opportunity to be let down by a whole new group of people, each week!

Here is what is happening in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:
Mychal Givens gets the eighth inning starting with No. 6 hitter Welington Castillo. It's not exactly the meat of the order, but these may have been judged as the most important outs of the game. The Orioles lead 4-2.

Cobb: "We’ve been giving up too many home runs as a staff, and I don’t want to get too much into it, but the baseballs are just absolutely ridiculous." #orioles

Former Oriole Jonathan Schoop hits a three-run blast in his return to Baltimore. Fair number of Orioles fans are applauding and cheering him.

There have been 12 position player pitching appearances in Orioles history; 25 percent of them have been in 2019.

Around the Bases
First Base: Deck Chairs on the Titantic
Since our last episode (15 APR) the Orioles made 26 roster transactions. That is… many. Some of the moves were no-brainers (such as Mike Wright getting sent to Azkaban ), as well as more surprising ones (Jesus failing to save his roster spot).
Second Base: We don’t want to see the Twins anymore.
The Twins simply man-handled the Orioles in their season series. In the six games the team played (including two on the same day that Jake subjected his child to), the O’s surrendered 45 home runs. Look away, the stats are NSFW. The good news is that we won’t see the Twins again in 2019. The bad news is that we’ll probably have this experience with a lot of teams on the schedule.
Third Base: Is there ANY trade value on the club right now?
Yes.
But you won’t be impressed with the return. Lower your expectations. Lower. Lower still.
Home Plate: The Crusher (mostly not ironically)
We’re talking about Chris Davis, because we can say nice things about him this week. We’re not saying he’s “back.” We’re simply saying that it’s nice to have something not horrible to say about him. Since breaking his oh-fer-ever, Davis has been one of the team’s offensive leaders. That can’t last, but hey – we’ll take it.
BBSB
We have tackled some serious issues on Bird’s Eye View, but this is one of the most important that we’ve come across to date. We ask you to dig deep and join us in supporting the BBSB. This organization does good work for those who need it the most.
Fantasy Boss
The contest doesn’t exactly tighten, but Scott stopped the bleeding. The unexpected two-week contest ended in a tie (both players – Nunez and Villar – collecting eight runs).
Sitting at a score of 2-0-1, Jake picks this week, and has returned to an old favorite: DONGS,
Scott’s pick: Dwight Smith Jr.
Jake’s pick: Chris Davis (yes, really)
Who will own it?

Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
