Leading Off
Mr. Elias… I don’t feel so good…
This ride is making many of us sick, but we’re strapped in, and need to stay through to the end. The Orioles are in one of their classic Dark Ages droughts, going .333 in May (5-10). What can we say about this week of Orioles Baseball? To make it easier, we brought in the big guns: the Baseball Widows make their triumphant Mothers’ Day (ish) return to the podcast.
Join us for The Drink of the Week. Don’t forget to drink socially with us on Untappd.
This Week on the Twitters
Here is what is happening in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:
(warning: there’s some language)
On the heels of getting destroyed by the @Orioles last start, enjoy this story about a time an orioles fan absolutely destroyed me in Camden. 😂😂 don’t want to miss this one @indians fans #RallyTogether pic.twitter.com/9ftZhOo7DT

Few Baltimore sports figures are quite as beloved as @orioles third baseman Brooks Robinson. Regarded by many as the greatest defensive 3B of all time, the Hall of Famer turns 82 today. Happy birthday, Brooks! https://t.co/PxS0qHiTBY pic.twitter.com/uPtWpOZpSc

Spotted this guy on the train in Tokyo. Asked, “How ‘bout dem O’s?”
Very dryly he responded in a German accent, “Oh. I see. It’s because of the, uh [points at hat]. I just like the duck. I think it’s cool.” pic.twitter.com/9k0LR62jFj

Mother’s Day (Belated)
One of our favorite traditions on Bird’s Eye View is turning over the mics to our wives (“The Baseball Widows”) on Mother’s Day. Since we were “too well to attend” last week, they’re making a belated appearance on Episode 267. Join them for a trip Around the Bases. It is anything but Two Lonely Girls Talking.
Happiness Is a Warm Duck
Scott gets philosophical, and asks the following: what makes you happy? No seriously, what about this team should we be happy about? What should we be looking for to make us happy?
Other questions of note:
- Does the team need a “Face of the Franchise?”
- What are stakes of the #1 draft pick?
- Do these jeans make my butt look fat?
Fantasy Boss
Aright, people: we have a tied up Fantasy Boss contest. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
Scott’s “Dong Multipliers” were more impressive than Jake’s “Dong Multipliers,” and so the contest now sits at 2-2-1.
For the upcoming week, Jake picked wOBA.
Scott’s pick: Trey Mancini
Jake’s Pick: Chris Davis
But wait! There’s more (of course there is…). We’re going to research some useful defensive metrics, and come up with a June Wild Card category of some defensive metric as a way to judge the “infielders.” Stay tuned.
Who will own it?
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
