Leading Off
Hi. We hope this episode finds you well – in good health and good spirits.
This is perhaps part our silliest and most serious episode. Here, we welcome friend of the program and friend of the universe, Charlie Hoppes to talk about all thing Orioles Baseball, and living in this moment in history.
Hurry back, baseball. We miss you.

This Week on the Twitters
Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:
Around the Bases
First Base
ESPN will air KBO games for American vampires.
Second Base
Maikol Hernandez is the newest future Orioles disappointment.
Third Base
The Orioles give 125%.
Home Plate
To discuss the Orioles’ 2015 fan-less game without reflecting upon the reasons behind it, cheapens the experience. Five years later, we encourage O’s fans to think about Freddie Gray, and how (if?) we have changed since then.
Ménage à trois
If you’re an O’s fan, we hope you are familiar with Charlie Hoppes’ work as one third of the dearly missed Orioles Spastics podcast. We’re big fans. Need proof? Check out Episode 129.
We also hope you have the good fortune to know him, because he’s simply one of the finest humans around. Charlie joined us for our signature lack of insight and baseless opinion.
But after barging in on the top of the show, he settled in for a discussion about how we all talk about what we are going through – collectively and personally – during the COVID-19 pandemic. He spoke (beautifully) about loss and grief, and about allowing ourselves the space to feel and to communicate about our mental health.
Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
