Leading Off
So things haven’t been fantastic since John Means threw a no-hitter. And I’m not just talking Wade Miley’s middle finger to Orioles fans. Some losses to the first place Red Sox have not diminished our spirits. Baseball is still fun, even when we’re not making history.
Later in the show we talk about baseball, friendship and love. Life may be too crazy these days to hug the ones you love – but let them know. It’s so important.

This Week on the Twitters
Here’s what’s going on in the world of Orioles Baseball, in 280 characters, or fewer:
What a Pair
It’s our favorite episode of the year: the Baseball Widows grace us with their presence, and show the listeners just how good we’ve got it. Is it apparent that we “outkicked our coverage” (in the immortal words of Jabby Burns)? Of course. But they’re also incredible tolerant and do this silly segment for us every year.
Enjoy this drink menu, brought to you by the ladies of Bird’s Eye View.
Around the Bases
FIRST BASE: Position Player Pitching
We’re not talking about Pat Valaika’s five-pitch appearance because it was weird baseball (which is incredibly fun, and should not be discouraged by MLB), but rather what it says about the Orioles’ preparation. Something stuck in our craw about this appearance.
SECOND BASE: This is why we can’t have nice things.
We said positive things about the Orioles on last week’s show, and were rewarded with three straight losses to the
Don’t get us wrong, things won’t always be awesome. But right now… it’s pretty awesome.
THIRD BASE: What comes next?
A few weeks ago, we talked about how the Game Notes discuss the last time something significant happened in Baltimore. Then we saw the sixth no-hitter in franchise history (unless, of course, 4pm on a work day is an inconvenient time for you to watch a ballgame).
So what do you to see next?
HOME PLATE: The MASN App
After such a “smooth” rollout, the MASN app is here. So… what do we think about it? From “meh” to “OK,” our reactions are EXXXXXXXXXXXXXTREME.
BONUS BASE: The Lease Likeable Oriole
We had really fun Orioles in the Buckle Up Birds era. We also had… less likeable guys on the club. Now that we’re in these mini-Dark Ages, we have fun Orioles. But do we have less likeable guys on the roster? We look for unnecessary trouble and identify the roster’s least likeable Oriole.
Fantasy Boss
Jake is back up, at a score of 3-1. Jake picked the absolutely absurd category of wins for a minor league affiliate. Scott (logically) picked Bowie. Jake went with Aberdeen.
This week, the category is batter’s lowest K%.
Scott’s pick is Trey Mancini.
Jake’s pick is Ryan Mountcastle.
Who will own it?

Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
