Leading Off
This week, Jake is joined by Matt Taylor of Roar From 34. Matt is one of our favorite people, and one of our favorite Orioles content creators. We love having him on the show (he usually stops by during Spring Training), and we’re lucky to have him present at the BEVys, but his talent can best be experienced at his blog, where he has been providing Humor, History, and Homerism since 2006. You can find Matt on Twitter @roarfrom34.
Scott is on a much-deserved vacation, and will return next week.

This Week on the Twitters
Around the Bases
First Base: What the trade deadline means
Thankfully, this was not a “Means” pun. Also, thankfully, Orioles fans did not need to take to the stadium with their pitch forks and torches (meaning there was no Mancini trade). Instead, the O’s put in some minor work. What does that say about the state of the rebuild? Also, is Mike Elias a dark wizard?
Second Base: A good stretch of baseball
The Orioles have been extremely watchable in the second half. Going 10-6 since the break, the Birds have gotten effective starting pitching from the least likely of places.
However, three does seem to the limit of their win streaks. This is a historically low number. Eh… just more 2021.
Third Base: The Script
We’ve all seen things go according to “the script,” for the Orioles. Terrible, predictable ends to games, etc. But the script seems to be flipped at the moment. Enjoy it while you can.
Home Plate: Orioles Crab Feast
We are not usually excited about this kind of thing, but the Orioles have a crab feast coming up that actually sounds pretty fun. This leads us down a dangerous discussion of what else the team should use the field for when the ballclub is out of town.
Oh So Very Wrong
Matt Taylor takes us on a guided tour of past impressions of Orioles players that left us realizing that we were very, very wrong. Whether it’s Matt Harvey, Jake Arrieta, or the cast of characters we review in this segment, expectation can offer differ from reality.
And when it does, it leaves us realizing that we were very, very wrong.
Fantasy Boss
Jake’s pessimism got the best of him, and he was betting on the Orioles’ hot start to the second half fizzling out. So of course Scott wins when he’s not here to gloat about it.
This past week the question was “will the Orioles win the four-game series against the Tigers?” Jake took “no,” and Scott was left with “yes, or push.” The series ended 2-2, which takes Fantasy Boss to an edge-of-your-seat score of 7-6. It’s getting tense in SD Studios, folks.
This week, the category is BB%. Matt picked Cedric Mullins (in Scott’s place) and Jake (inexplicably) chose Ramon Urias.
Who will own it?
Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
