This Week on the Twitters

Losing Streak

The way things have been going, we couldn’t bear to go Around the Bases. Instead, we took a page from the Orioles’ book and went on a four game losing streak.

Loss #1: Is 21 in danger?

In our last podcast, we asked whether this might be the worst team in franchise history. Now, after seeing the Orioles lose 18 straight games, we have to revisit our findings.

The Orioles are in arms reach of setting a new record for futility for consecutive losses. Is there some small part of you that would like to see them set a new record?

Loss #2: Deck Chairs on the Titanic

The Orioles made some changes (while the band played on):

ecent changes:

  • Maikel Franco has been designated for assignment
  • Jahmai Jones is here!
  • Kelvin Gutierrez is apparently coming back
  • Richie Martin has been sent back to the minors

None of these are truly significant, but it will be interesting to see what Jones (who has been struggling of late at AAA) can bring to a team that lacks… everything.

Loss #3: Little League

There are simply too many jokes to be made by putting the words “Orioles” and “Little League” in the same segment. And we try to make them all.

Scott and Jake are big fans of the Little League World Series, the Little League Classic, and the LLWS broadcast style. There are some changes we’d like to see MASN adopt.

Loss #4: Are we suffering an existential crisis?

Scott takes us on a tour of the tenets of existentialism, and helps us understand if we, as Orioles fans, are experiencing an existential crisis.

Spoiler alert: yes.

Farewell, Crush(er)

We haven’t been back behind the microphones since Chris Davis announced his retirement. We reflect on Davis’ career, and how we balance the need to acknowledge the (very) bad with the pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Is Davis an Orioles Hall of Famer? We dunno. But now that he’s retired, it costs us nothing as fans to remember the good.

Fantasy Boss

Jake takes this week’s Fantasy Boss. The category was dongs. It was not an… interesting… dong fest. Scott’s pick (Trey Mancini) had one HR, whereas Jake’s pick (Cedric Mullins) had zero. Did we mention that Orioles baseball was fun this past week?

That brings the Fantasy Boss score to 8-7. And Jake is up to pick the category.

This week, the category is strikeouts – not K%, just straight up Ks.

Scott selected Anthony Santander, and Jake picked Ramon Urias.

Who will own it?

Who had a great week? Who had a tough week? Who made us ashamed to be Orioles fans? Find out in this week’s GB&U. The guys run through their Good, Bad, and Ugly for the week.

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
