Episode 346: AtB TOOTBLAN

Leading Off

Scott Magness is on assignment this week, so former Baltimore Sports Report Network sister-wife podcaster Jabby Burns steps in to lend his voice and to drop a few truth bombs.

There may have been some Titos. And… that has nothing to do with the fact that we missed third base. Nothing.

This Week on the Twitters

Around the Bases

We go Around the Bases to review this week in Orioles Baseball:

First Base: Have the Orioles peaked?

The Orioles are playing great baseball, but we wonder the obvious, aloud: have the Orioles peaked?

Even if they have, is that… bad? And might that mean for a season that is still fun and rewarding to watch?

Second Base: Trey(d) Deadline?

The trade deadline is coming – we all know it is. And we all know what that means. But is it truly a fait acompli?

Third Base: The Draft on Holliday

We had every intention of having a great conversation on Jackson Holliday and the Orioles 2022 draft class, but we got so excited talking about Trey and Mo, and we just got so excited that we missed it altogether. It’s our first Around the Bases TOOTBLAN, here on Bird’s Eye View.

Home Plate: Thanks, Mo

Thursday was Mo Gabba Day, and boy did it ever deliver. Of course we knew the story was going to be Trey Mancini, but we didn’t know that it was going to happen like that.

Orioles fans were hit in the feels like a “home run” to the face.

Fantasy Boss

Scott extends his lead to 4-2! What is happening here?!?

Scott correctly picked that Adley Rutschman would have a greater Wins Probability Added (WPA) at 0.17 than Jake’s pick, Cionel Perez, who tallied a 0.08 WPA.

Guest Host Jabby Burns selects the next category, which asks just much Ramon Urias will cool off over the next week. With the K(%?) line set at 10, Scott gets the over and Jake takes the under.

Who will own it?

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
