Episode 373: John the Worst

Leading Off

Too late to be known as John the First, he’s sure to be known as John the Worst. A pox upon the phony king of Birdland!

This Week on the Twitters

Around the Bases

First Base: The Phony King of Birdland

John Angelos is the worst, and just needs to shut up. There is literally no one – in Birdland or in the greater baseball community – who doesn’t think that his “cry poor” act is anything short of pathetic.

Second Base: About last night…

As fans, we can sometimes focus too much on the losses, or on the disappointments. For no good reason, Jake wants to talk about the win on Wednesday night against the Blue Jays. You like starting pitching? Check. What about dominant performances out of the bullpen? Check. Are you a fan of dongs? Check. Manufactured runs? Check.

A great game in a fantastic season. Soak it in, this is fun.

Third Base: September rosters

Who comes up with the rosters expand? The Orioles have some choices, and we have some truly terrible opinions on the matter.

Home Plate: Truth or Truth?

We’re back to ripping off our favorite late-night segment. Scott surprises with a little ToT.

Fantasy Boss

Jake inches closer, and the score is now 8-4. He couldn’t remember who he picked, but his choice (Austin Hays) tied Scott’s (Gunnar Henderson) with two dongs.

But the real work was done with the Wild Card. Jake clicked on the position player not named Ryan McKenna (James McCann).

This week’s category is wOBA. Jake took Austin Hays and Scott selected Cedric Mullins.

Our last remaining Wild Card is:

Next Oriole to hit a 450+ foot HR

  • Scott selected Gunnar Henderson
  • Jake took Austin Hays

Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
