Jeff Long
One of the overarching goals of this podcast is making advanced metrics a part of the larger conversation to the average baseball fan. Jeff Long has been doing that much better and much longer. His work on his blog Warehouse Worthy led to him writing on Baseball Prospectus, for whom he wrote the Orioles preview on this year’s BP Annual.
Jeff walks us through Orioles organizational philosophy, the future of the starting rotation, and rewriting the back of the baseball card.
Opening Day Alternatives
Opening Day is going to be a hotter ticket than usual this year. The Orioles have sold so many 13-game packages that there are not enough Opening Day seats for season ticket holders. 81 and 29-game plan holders are guaranteed tickets, but there are many 13-game plan holders – and single ticket purchasers – who will be left out in the cold.
What other options to fans have to attending opening day? What can the Orioles do to provide unique opportunities for all fans to participate in Opening Week festivities?
Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
