Happy Opening Day!
We made it! Baseball is back, and the games matter. Today, at 3:05, the Baltimore Orioles will take on the Minnesota Twins in front of a (possibly damp) sellout crowd at the most beautiful park in baseball.
Damn, that’s a good feeling.
Scott and I will be at about town, and at the Yard today. If you’ll be around, let us know – we’d love to share a drink of the week with you. Catch up with us on Twitter @birdseyeviewbal.
O’s fans, this is what we’ve been waiting for, since that five-game run where the O’s salvaged 2015 into a .500 season. That bitter taste in your mouth? Forget it. Wash it down with some Old Bay fries and a Loose Cannon. Worried about the team’s chances for 2016? Irritated about the Kim situation? Legitimately terrified by the starting rotation? Set that all aside today. Enjoy Opening Day as the celebrations it is. If baseball, and more specifically – Orioles baseball, is important to you, this is your day. Let your freak flag fly.

If you’re going to the game, I hope you have a safe, enjoyable day. Try not to get too wet, and try to remember that being damp at Camden Yards on Opening Day beats being dry anywhere else on the planet. If you’re going downtown just to soak up the atmosphere, have a blast – enjoy our town. Despite the mess we make of it sometimes, it’s beautiful, and it’s ours. And for all of you stuck at work, or school, or whatever responsibilities are getting in the way of the ballgame, I hope you’re able to take a long lunch, listen on the radio, or remain blissfully ignorant until you get home to the DVR.
This is the day, Birdland! Make the most of it.
Oh, and let’s end up 1-0, shall we?
