National League Ball!

Ah, interleague play. It’s that magical time of year when American League pitchers stand useless in the batters’ box, taking a dose of their own medicine. As silly as they look, and as frustrating as it is to see pitchers ruin rallies with men on, I have to admit that I enjoy the National League style of play. I’m not sure if it’s the novelty, or if it goes back to that feeling that this is how baseball “ought to be played.” Something about expecting pitchers to be all-around players.

The Orioles’ projected starters (Miguel Gonzalez and Chris Tillman) are a combined 0-9 as offensive players, and most of the bullpen is a collection of strikeouts and awkward at bats, with the exception of Zach Britton.

Britton is actually the man.

In 8 career at-bats, Britton has five hits including a double and a home run. Forget closer, Britton needs a start in Pittsburgh. Or Milwalkee. Or Chicago.

Just give the man some at bats!
