Orioles 2013 Roster Comes into Focus

As the Orioles draw closer to finalizing their active 25-man roster, the  club is running out of easy decisions. Optioning Russ Canzler, and reassigning Lew Ford and Jason Pridie should have surprised no one.  Some guys are still in camp to get work in that are clearly not going to make the club (Mark Hendrickson, Chris Robinson, Kevin Gausman).

The real question is what the Orioles are going to with T.J. McFarland? And Brian Matusz? Who gets an opportunity because of Wilson Betemit’s injury – Connor Jackson or Steve Pearce?

The tough cuts are coming. The only silver lining for players, at this point, is that the Orioles have a track record of using the guys they stash away in the minors. The team used 50+ players last year, and have some real injury questions at second base (Roberts), the outfield (Markakis, Reimold), and starting rotation (Tillman).

This is where things get interesting. The music is about to stop, and the chairs are filling up.
