ReimTime: Put Up or Shut Up
Well, it’s that time again. The time has come for the Nolan Reimold Is the Savior crowd to go head-to-head with the Nolan Reimold Is Injury Prone and Overrated crowd. You know the types. You’ve heard them around water coolers, and on the interwebs.
Frankly, I’m sick of hearing it from both of them. The Orioles desperately need a shot in the arm to get the offense going. They need someone in the corner outfield spots who won’t bring negative value. They also need someone who can give them real playing time. Someone who can hold down the lion’s share of a platoon in LF/RF.
That person could be Nolan Reimold.
Or, Reimold could flake out, and turn out to be not as good as the promise he showed in 2009. It could be that his body breaks down again, and his career (and that as an Oriole) will become endangered again (maybe for good?).
I like Nolan Reimold. I want him to succeed, and have that success pay dividends for the Orioles in 2015 and beyond. He seems like a nice enough guy, and the flashes of his talent are certainly enticing. But I’m over the “will he/won’t he” debate that fans put us through each time he gets a shot in the bigs.
So here we are again: it’s ReimTime. Time to put up, or shut up.
