You’ve heard the expression “less is more.” Sometimes, less is just less. The Orioles have had two winning seasons, and instead of building upon those successes, the club won’t commit to making the improvements necessary to make a push for the playoffs.<\/p>\n

It’s not just me. The Orioles have gotten the attention of baseball at large (remember the Boston Globe article<\/a> saying that the Orioles owe it to their fans to get serious about the offseason). Here is another example, from our friends at the Four-Letter-Network. Listen in at the 39:52 mark<\/a>, as Time Kurkjian is asked which team he thinks has had the most disappointing offseason:<\/p>\n

I still don\u2019t understand what the Orioles are doing here, and it seems to me this is no longer Buck Showalter call on everything, because I promise you there is no way Jim Johnson leaves if Buck Showalter has the complete call on everything. I don\u2019t understand how you can trade your closer for a second baseman who might not even make your team. I still don\u2019t understand how the Orioles couldn\u2019t afford Jim Johnson, and the Oakland A\u2019s could – even for one year\u2026 And then I thought maybe they\u2019re going to take that money and use it to go get a starting pitcher, and maybe they still will, but I doubt it. In that division, with the World Champion Red Sox, Yankees getting better, Tampa Bay with all that pitching, I expected the Orioles to do more, and they did less.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Have faith! Eventually, this offseason will come to a merciful end. Even if the Birds fail to make any meaningful moves, there will come a time when we can turn our attention from the Warehouse to the on-the-field activity.
