The Orioles announced a new contest on their website called My Orioles Magic Moment. The idea is a simple one: the club picks a classic moment from the Orioles’ 60 years of magic, and then opens it up for fans to recreate the moment themselves. Winners will receive all sorts of O’s swag. Here’s text from the site:
Birdland has experienced some amazing memories over the past 60 years, and now is your chance to relive the excitement and play a starring role in some key moments! With My Orioles Magic Moment, you have the opportunity to reenact some of the most memorable moments in Orioles history, including World Series championships, dramatic home runs, 2131, and more.
Each month between now and September, we will reveal a new moment and ask you to record the reenactment then send us the link to your video using the form below. We also encourage you to share your My Orioles Magic Moment with friends on social media using the hashtag #MyOsMagic.
A winning video will be chosen for each moment, with the winners receiving a prize package containing four lower level tickets to an Orioles home game and an official 60th Anniversary baseball autographed by an Oriole. The winning videos will also be will be featured here.
I have to say, I think this idea is cool. The more artsy-fartsy fans among us (read: those with video cameras and excess free time) should have a blast with this. I’m also hoping that there will be more creative submissions, like Lego stop-animation, or something. There has to be some highschool/college student out there in Birdland who needs a final project, right? Right?! We highly encourage our listeners to get involved, and if you do – pass it along.
